What to look for in a pool technician app
Offline mode isn't optional. Backyards and equipment pads often have weak signal. Techs should be able to finish a stop with no signal and sync later, without losing readings or photos.
Site notes save time at every stop. Gate codes, dog warnings and access instructions should show up when the tech arrives, not sit buried in a customer record back at the office.
Checklists keep service consistent. Required tasks like brushing, skimming, emptying baskets and checking equipment make sure every stop gets the same service, whichever tech is there. Test how quick they are to check off on a phone.
Specialty tasks need their own schedule. Salt cell cleaning, filter cleans and other jobs that don't happen every visit should come up automatically on the right stop, instead of relying on a tech's memory.
Work orders keep repairs separate from routine service. If you do repairs, look for a way to create, assign and track one-off jobs with their own notes and photos, without cluttering the weekly route.
Equipment records speed up repairs. Knowing a customer's pump model, filter type and install date before arriving means the right parts are already on the truck.
Job templates help with seasonal work. Openings, closings and green-to-clean jobs follow the same steps every time. Templates keep them consistent and quick to schedule.
